Optika Ripple Tank
Optika Ripple Tank
Product code: A1672538
Product Description
This high quality Ripple Tank from Optika combines ease of use with high visual resolution and responsiveness. The stroboscopic lamp is fitted with an extra-bright 3W LED, which is synchronised with the surface-wave generator. The control unit is equipped with a digital display and allows to set or to stop the synchronism of the vibrator with the lamp, the modulation of wave amplitude and its frequency. The vibrator is an electro-dynamic type.
When used as a stroboscope, the extra-bright 3W LED light can be synchronised with the wave generator, allowing easy demonstration of standing waves etc.
The apparatus comprises a 0-50Hz wave generator, electro-dynamic vibrator unit, 3W LED source with both strobe and steady modes, high quality metal frame with tank, mirror, screen, power supply, comprehensive notes and accessories.
The apparatus includes a variety of dippers and accessories, allowing exploration of a wide range of wave phenomena, including wave propagation, reflection, refraction, interference patterns and standing waves.
The tank is provided with two adjustable feet and with an easy to-use drain pipe ending with a tap.
OPTIKA Ripple Tank has the following advantages:
- Simple to assemble
- Ease of carrying out the experiments
- Reliable and repeatable results
- Excellent visual resolution of the wave front
Dimensions:
- Tank (overall): 30 x 30 cm
- Projection Screen (overall): 30 x 30 cm
Ideal for:
- Superficial waves on water
- Wavefront
- Wavelength
- Propagation speed
- Reflection
- Refraction
- Interference
- Stationary waves
- Diffraction
- Huygens principle
- High quality advanced Ripple Tank.
- Easy to assemble
- Easy to carry out experiments
- Reliable and repeatable results
- Excellent visual resolution of the wave front
- Key Stage 3 Physics - Waves: Waves on water as undulations which travel through water with transverse motion; these waves can be reflected, and add or cancel – superposition.
- Key Stage 4 Physics - Wave Motion: Transverse and longitudinal waves. Describe wave motion in terms of the wavelength and frequency of waves in water, explaining how these may be measured, that they are transverse, that it is the wave and not the water itself that travels; explain the relationship between velocity, frequency and wavelength.
- GCSE Required Practical: Waves
- Using the Ripple Tank in a darkened room will improve wave visualisation, but is not required.
