Philip Harris Foundation Physics - Hookes Law
Product code: AP00054192
Product Description
Foundation Physics - Hooke's Law Apparatus
Please Note: The Foundation Physics Universal Stand is not included with the Hooke's Law Apparatus and will need to be purchased separately using code PP00054183.
- The Foundation Physics range centres around the Universal Stand and includes accessories which allow a wide range of experiments to be conducted. Each add-on includes a comprehensive instructional guide with student tasks which are linked to the curriculum.
The Foundation Physics Hooke's Law Apparatus is a versatile way for students to investigate Hooke's Law. When combined with the Foundation Physics Universal Stand (available to purchase separately), using various springs, students can investigate extension, tension, oscillation, springs in series, springs in parallel and also calculating the mass of an object using the period of a spring.
The Foundation Physics Hooke's Law includes:
- 3 x short springs (15cm)
- 3 x long springs (30cm) - marked Magenta
- 1 x long spring (30cm) - marked Green
- 1 x long spring (30cm) - marked Blue
- 1 x Triangle Connector
- 1 x Clear Plastic Reading Bar
- 1 x Mass Hanger

- Key Stage 3 Physics - Motion and Forces: Force-extension linear relation; Hooke’s Law as a special case. Opposing forces and equilibrium: weight held by stretched spring or supported on a compressed surface. Forces associated with deforming objects; stretching and squashing – springs; with rubbing and friction between surfaces, with pushing things out of the way; resistance to motion of air and water.
Activities could include:
- Investigating Hooke's Law
- Stretching Springs - Investigating and Determining Spring Constant
- Tension
- Springs in Series and Parallel
- Spring Oscillations
